A little about me

I’ve been reading up on what to write and it seems the best thing is to give you a bit more about me. So here it goes.

I was born in California where I lived the first twenty-seven years of my life. I have one older brother and lots of cousins that I grew up around.

My family has never been very well off. I had and aunt and uncle who were lower middle class and were able to get houses in the suburbs, but my family mostly stuck with apartments, low paying jobs, and barely scraping by.

When I was twenty-seven circumstances forced me to move to South Carolina. I can’t say I was thrilled, but the cost of living was much lower. I’m making more now that I ever have in my entire life. Which, unfortunately, doesn’t say much.

Like I said before, I’m starting this blog and this store to try to make money doing what I love. I don’t expect to get rich and I’ll be amazing if I earn the six-figure income everything I’ve seen has been promising. I’m also trying to get into bookkeeping as a side business, something to make money until I know the store and blog can start earning. I’m keeping my day job until I can replace that income.

Throwing myself a pity party isn’t my intention, but as I’ve read blogs about people coming up from nothing I feel I can assume you may be interested in that concept too. So let me put out there: I’ve never been homeless, thanks to my generous family. That makes me more fortunate than some and I try to pay it forward.

A little more about me. I have an associates degree in computer animation and I’m a Hollywood trained make-up artist. I have always made artwork my entire life, but I never knew how to make money with it. For a while I did working at Disneyland (actually Kaman’s Art Shoppe in Disneyland) painting names using letter brush art. I enjoy sculpting and painting and now I just want to be able to do that.

I’m forty-two years old as of last month. If you’ve seen Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, you’ll know that means I’m now the answer to life, the universe, and everything! And as such, I’m determined to do what I’ve never managed to do before: live life on my terms! And I’m taking as many people as I can with me!

That’s why this store is not just my art. I have a circle of friends who are all crafty in their own way and I want a place for them to work toward their dreams as well.

I’m still not very good at this blogging thing. I wrote and self-published a 100,000+ word novel when I was twenty-six, but writing a blog seems so much harder. I can write fiction all day long, tell you the most personal details about my characters, but when it comes to me I don’t know what people want to read. Please leave me messages so I can get inspired and start writing things people really want to know about.
